Richard Barasch, Executive Chairman

Richard Barasch pioneered the provider engagement model in Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D. He serves as Executive Chairman of Deerfield Healthcare Technology Acquisitions Corp and led Universal American Corp as Chief Executive Officer from 1995 to 2017.

Barasch also currently serves as Chairman of AdaptHealth’s Board of Directors, where he led the successful business combination with DFB Healthcare Acquisitions Corp.

A native New Yorker, Mr. Barasch is a graduate of Swarthmore College and Columbia

University Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review.

Carlos de Solo, Chief Executive Officer

Carlos de Solo has committed his professional life to creating the most effective delivery system for underserved patients in economically challenged areas. With more than 10 years' experience in healthcare, he started his career as senior equities trader for RBC/Carlin. From there, he served as COO and partner of a startup managed healthcare company, then successfully sold the company in 2 years. In 2011, he co-founded CareMax Medical Centers, a network of community-centric medical and wellness facilities benefitting communities across Florida.

Albert de Solo, Chief Operating Officer

Alberto R. de Solo has over 12 years of experience in finance, accounting, risk management, and capital management. He joined Managed Healthcare Partners in 2011 as Chief Financial Officer. Before joining MHP, Alberto worked as a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch where he managed over $150 million for his clients. He specialized in the areas of investment management, small business consulting, private banking, investment strategies, and financial risk modeling. Prior to that, Alberto was a founding partner of a local point of sale computer company, which he successfully sold in 2003.

De Solo is responsible for all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to the organization, including budget management, cost–benefit analysis, and forecasting needs.

Ben Quirk, Chief Strategy Officer

Ben Quirk has worked lead initiatives in capitated, shared risk, and full risk models for more than 15 years. Quirk started his own successful company partnering with organizations intent on thriving in the face of the sweeping changes in the industry. Quirk joined CareMax as Chief Strategy Officer, allowing him to take his strategic vision and technological expertise and apply it to socially responsible initiatives.

Quirk is also founding partner in CareOptimize, a healthcare software and consultancy company specializing in creating solutions for healthcare organizations throughout the country. To enhance the reach of the organization, Quirk established an effort to develop a proprietary provider engagement web-based platform driving change at point-of-care. This multi-faceted utility was tested throughout the CareMax continuum and led to direct clinical and financial gains, allowing for expansion of the model throughout Florida.

The perfect combination of optimal healthcare delivery and revolutionary technology enhanced CareMax’s patient-centric workflow and helped make their model a prototype for senior care. With rapid growth and recent acquisitions, Quirk is now leading the effort to establish a national presence.

Niberto Moreno, Chief Medical Officer

Niberto Moreno, MD is a practicing cardiologist in Florida. He received a B.A. in History from Amherst College, then went on to medical school at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. His residency was in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital, after which he became Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School. Before coming to MHP, Moreno served as Medical Lead for all specialists at Conviva Physician group, a subsidiary of Humana, the largest at-risk provider group in the country.

Gordon Carroll, Vice President, Corporate Development

Gordon leads CareMax’s M&A strategy and is also involved in corporate strategy, financial planning and analysis, and other general data analytics and reporting initiatives.

Gordon joined CareMax through its acquisition of IMC Health. At IMC he was a member of the leadership team and helped contribute to execution of company’s strategic value creation plan developed in concert with their private equity owners. Prior to joining IMC, Gordon was a member of the healthcare investment team at Comvest Partners, a middle market private equity firm. Prior to Comvest, he worked for several years in healthcare investment banking at Cain Brothers and Company in New York City.

Gordon received a BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Kevin Wirges, Chief Financial Officer

Kevin Wirges is currently the Chief Financial Officer of CareMax. Prior to joining the team, he was the Chief Financial Officer of IMC and had served in that capacity since September 2017. Between October 2015 and September 2017, Mr. Wirges was Regional Vice President, Finance, Medicare East Region at Anthem, one of the largest health benefits companies in the United States. Prior to Anthem’s acquisition of Simply Healthcare Plans in 2015, Mr. Wirges held several executive positions at Simply Healthcare Plans, which was one of the largest privately owned Health Maintenance Organizations, including Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance and Controller. Mr. Wirges received a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Central Arkansas.
